SOUTHERN AFRICA TRANSPORT CONFERENCE (SATC) 20222023

This post is all about the Southern African Transport Conference Bursary 2022/2023 which is available for both undergraduate and postgraduate study sponsored by SATC.

The Southern African Transport Conference (SATC) is an event held annually (every year) and it is attended by delegates (more than 700) who have a connection and relationship in the transport industry. The premier transport platform is the SATC, and their major goal is to promote key thinking and new solutions to transport challenges faced by Southern Africa and encourage the debate of current transport issues.

The 2021 conference was held virtually, the main theme of “Sustainable Transportation Through Enabling Partnerships”. This year’s conference aimed to give delegates the inside track on contemporary transport trends and to help industry players reimagine transport for the needs of its users.

 THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN TRANSPORT CONFERENCE BURSARY 2022/2023 – FIELDS COVERED & COVERAGE VALUE

SOUTHERN AFRICA TRANSPORT CONFERENCE (SATC) 20222023

The Southern African Transport Conference Bursary 2022/2023 are inviting students to apply for 2 types of bursaries:

1) A bursary for South African or SADC students, pursuing undergraduate studies in the Transport field.
2) A bursary for South African or SADC students, pursuing Postgraduate (Masters or Doctorate) research component in Transport.

THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN TRANSPORT CONFERENCE BURSARY 2022/2023 – COVERAGE VALUE

SATC bursaries will be awarded to:

  1. 2 Postgraduate students, to the value of R170 000 per bursary tax-free, which will be paid directly to the University where the student is undertaking their research.
  2. 1 Undergraduate student, to provide cover for the following expenses: tuition fees, prescribed books, and accommodation in line with the University’s cost structure.            P.S: Bursaries are paid in 2 installments – half in February and half in July. Bursaries are awarded for 1 academic year at a time and are renewable each year based on satisfactory academic performance.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN TRANSPORT CONFERENCE BURSARY 2022/2023

Applicants before applying must meet the following minimum entry criteria. Kindly note, your application will not be considered if you fail to meet these requirements:

  • Applicants must be  South African citizens OR from one of the SADC countries (see below)
  • Applicants must be studying full-time towards an Undergraduate qualification that involves transport OR a Postgraduate (Masters or Doctorate) research component in transport.
  • Applicants must be studying at a recognized South African University.
  • Applicants must NOT be in receipt of any other bursaries, scholarships, awards, or other funding.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is made up of the following 16 countries:

  • South Africa
  • Lesotho
  • Zimbabwe
  • Namibia
  • Botswana
  • Mozambique
  • Mauritius
  • Zambia
  • Tanzania
  • Malawi
  • The Democratic Republic of Congo
  • Angola
  • Madagascar
  • Seychelles
  • Comoros
  • Eswatini

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN TRANSPORT CONFERENCE BURSARY 2022/2023

Candidates should read carefully and follow these steps:

  1. Download and complete the: SATC-Bursary-Application-Form (.docx)
  2. Compulsorily, along with their online application form, applicants must submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation. Any missing items will lead to your application being disqualified:
  • A recent photograph of yourself
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Membership certificate of professional bodies (certified copy)
  • Postgraduate students: Degree certificates and academic record (certified copy)
  • Undergraduate students: invoice with the list of detailed expenses

CLOSING DATE FOR THE SOUTHERN AFRICAN TRANSPORT CONFERENCE BURSARY 2022/2023

The SATC Postgraduate Bursary closes on 13th December 2021.
The SATC Undergraduate Bursary closes on 30th January 2022.
