The Kay Mason Foundation offers these scholarships for students entering high school in 2025. This article aims to guide you through the eligibility criteria, benefits, application procedure, and application dates for the scholarship.

Benefits

Successful applicants will receive financial assistance to cover their high school education and related expenses. The scholarship aims to alleviate the financial burden on the scholar’s family, allowing the students to focus on their studies and reach their full academic potential.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a South African citizen.
  • Must have achieved an average of 65% or above in their studies, including 65% or above in their First and Second Language, maths, and science.
  • The combined household income must not exceed R17,500 per month before deductions (gross income).
  • The applicant must be in Grade 6 by 2023.
  • The applicant must live in Cape Town, Northern Suburbs, Southern Suburbs, Helderberg, or Boland area and be able to travel to Bellville on Saturdays for class.

Application Procedure

Before filling out the application form, applicants must have scanned copies of the required documents ready for uploading. Any missing documents will result in immediate disqualification. The necessary documents include:

  • Proof of income for all earners in the household.
  • Proof of SASSA Grant (if applicable).
  • An affidavit stating the duration and reason for unemployment (if applicable).
  • Learner’s birth certificate.
  • Parent/legal guardian ID documents.
  • Grade 5 (Term 4) school report.
  • Grade 6 (Term 1) school report.
  • Divorce decree (if applicable).
  • Death certificate of parent (if applicable).
