The Tshwane University of Technology has released the admission requirements for all their programme for the new session. Before any student can gain admission into the Tshwane University of Technology, applicants must meet up with the minimum requirements for the programme they are applying to.

Below are the TUT General Admission Requirements:

  • Applicants must have a pass mark in English at the Senior Certificate level (minimum additional language; certain programmes may require first or home language status)
  • Each course has its own specific admission requirements.
  • Some programmes do require students to write an admission test, which will determine whether they will be admitted to the programme, or if they will be recommended to enrol for a relevant foundation course.

​​Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy?

It is compulsory for all learners to take one of the two subjects for NSC-G purposes

TUT Minimum entry requirements for Higher Certificate

The minimum TUT admission requirement for a National Senior Certificate (NSC) is a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by the Council for General and Further Education and Training (Umalusi).

Programs may require an appropriate combination of NSC subjects and level of achievement as a consideration to giving out admission. An institution may determine that a Higher Certificate in Architectural Design requires in addition to the NSC a specified level of attainment in Design and an associated recognized subject.

TUT Minimum entry requirements for Diploma

The minimum requirement for a Diploma programme in TUT is a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by Umalusi. An achievement rating of 3 (Moderate Achievement, 40-49%) or better in four recognized NSC 20-credit subjects is also a requirement.

Programs or institutions may require an appropriate combination of NSC subjects and level of achievement as a consideration to giving out admission. An example is a Diploma in Data metrics requiring a pass at a prescribed level in Mathematics or Information Technology.

TUT Minimum entry requirements for Bachelor’s Degree

Below are the minimum requirements for students that want to study a degree programme:

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a minimum of 30% in the language of learning and teaching of the higher education institution as certified by Umalusi.
  • An achievement rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in four subjects chosen from the following recognized 20-credit NSC subject.
