Application is now open for students that want to apply for the Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarship 2022. You will find all the information you need t know about this scholarship below.

The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) Scholarship is funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. If you will love to study in Holland, this scholarship is for you.

The Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP) Scholarship has opportunities for students that want to study any of the courses below:

  • short courses (duration 2 weeks to 12 months);
  • master’s programmes (duration 12 to 24 months).

Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarship Eligible Countries

To be eligible for the Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarships, u must be from any of the countries listed below:

Bangladesh, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Colombia, Congo (DRC), Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guatemala, Guinea, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Liberia, Mali, Mozambique, Myanmar, Niger, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Suriname, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen and Zambia.

If you are applying for master’s programmes from Indonesia you can apply through the OKP-LPDP joint programme.

Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarships Requirements

Below are the eligibility requirements for all applicants that want to apply for the scholarship. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be motivated;
  • living and working in any of the above-listed countries;
  • Applicants must be proficient in English or French;
  • Working in one of the priority areas for their country;
  • Can motivate using and transferring their knowledge and experience in their employing organisation after their studies;
  • Agreeing to the OKP obligations and conditions (133.9 kB).

Language Requirements

You need English or French language skills take classes in the Netherlands. Demands for certificates for language skills depend on the education institution.

Priority themes per country

Below are the Orange Knowledge Programme;

  • Sexual and reproductive health and rights
  • Security and rule of law
  • Food and nutrition security
  • Water management

Each country has a focus area that might change and the list of countries can also change. Orange Knowledge Programme will only accept applications that fall within the focus area of your country of employment.

Employer statement

Applicants will have to provide a duly signed employer statement to show that your employer supports their application. It must also show that you are ready to share the knowledge gained in the Netherlands once you return to your country.

This is because OKP focus is to strengthen the organization by strengthening people.

Government statement

All government workers might need to sign a government statement to certify the support of your government for your OKP application.

Other requirements

There are other requirements needed for the Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarship. The education institution will let you know if there are other requirements.

This application is for working professionals, the organization will not take applications from students. You have to show the following to be eligible:

  • That you work within the priority themes for your country.
  • Tell us how the courses will strengthen you and the organisation you work for.
  • How you will use your newly gained knowledge and experience in your organisation after your study.

How to apply

The application for this bursary is online through the Dutch education institution of your choice. Follow the instruction below to apply successfully:

  1. Check if you are eligible for the scholarship requirements
  2. Find a study, using the filter ‘Orange Knowledge Programme (OKP)’.
  3. Make sure your employer is willing to nominate you for an OKP scholarship.
  4. Contact the Dutch education institution of your choice for more information regarding the application procedure, the academic requirements and the link to apply online.
  5. Prepare your employer statement, motivation, passport, government statement (if required).
  6. Submit your application online through the link given to you and submit all the required documents. Please take note of the application closing date.

Deadlines of application rounds

Below are the rounds available for 2022 Orange Knowledge Programme Scholarship applications.

Round 1 – For master’s and short courses

  • Application opens between 2 February – 22 March 16.00 CET.
  • Both master’s and short courses will start between 25 July and 21 November 2022.

Round 2 – For short courses

  • Application opens between 11 May – 28 June at 16.00 CET.
  • Courses should start between 21 November 2022 and 20 February 2023.

Round 3 – For short courses

  • Application opens between 31 August – 11 October 16.00 CET.
  • Courses should start from 20 February 2023 onward and must be completed before 31 August 2023.

Deadlines per institution

All applicants should consult their institution to know their closing date. The educational institution might set a shorter closing date.

1. Candidates will first register with their Dutch education institution.
2. Dutch institution nominates candidates and submits grant applications.
3. Embassies check applicants eligibility and assess applications
4. Selection results available for Dutch education institutions
5. Grants awarded through Dutch education institutions

The results of the applications will be announced after 3 to 4 months of application. The Dutch education institution you applied to will be the one to contact you regarding your scholarship status.
