The National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) Digital Literacy programme registration has commenced and here you will get detailed information about the NEMISA digital literacy courses and how you can apply successfully.

We will also provide you with the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA) Application form and requirements for admission for the 2022 academic session.

The management of NEMISA has open applications for both current and new students to start their registration for the new session.

NEMISA Digital Literacy Programme

NEMISA DIGITAL LITERACY COURSE STRUCTURE & REQUIREMENTS

NEMISA Digital Literacy courses will take place for five days and the course outline for each day has been mapped out already.

Purpose of the training

  • To give the knowledge and skills needed by participants entering the Digital Literacy space.
  • To empower participants with this knowledge to comfortably and confidently operate in the Digital Literacy environment in South Africa.
  • To respond to the challenges of the economic environment.

Day 1 – The Internet

Accessing the Internet

  • Explain the concepts and terms of the Internet.
  • Use a browser to display websites
  • Navigate the Internet.
  • Use a Search Engine.
  • Search for information on the Internet
  • Explain legal and ethical issues in relation to Internet use.

Day 1 – Cloud Storage

Access and Use Internet Applications

  • Explain how the world-wide-web incorporates various internet applications.
  • Describe the latest internet applications, including web-based email, instant messaging and Voice-over-IP (VoIP)
  • Explain legal and ethical issues in relation to Internet Application use.

Day 2 – Digital Awareness

Information Ethics

  • Digital Citizenship, Cyber Security, Cyber Safety & Cyber Crime
  • Explain legal and ethical issues in relation to Internet use.
  • Explain legal and ethical issues in relation to Internet Application use.
  • Explain legal and ethical issues in relation to Electronic Messaging Use.

Day 3 – Mail & Messaging

Instant Messaging & Electronic Mail

  • Explain the concepts and terms of electronic messaging.
  • Create and send E-mail messages.
  • Create and send instant messages.
  • Receive and respond to e-mails.
  • Receive and respond to instant messages.
  • Explain legal and ethical issues in relation to Instant Messaging Use.

Day 3 – Social Media & Blogging

Access and Use Internet Applications

  • Explain how the world-wide-web incorporates various internet applications.
  • Describe the latest internet applications, including web-based email, instant messaging and Voice-over-IP (VoIP)
  • Explain legal and ethical issues in relation to Internet Application use
