The management of the African Rainbow Minerals is giving out bursaries for students of South Africa. This organization was founded by a South African mining billionaire businessman, Patrice Motsepe. It is the first owned black mining company in South Africa and it is one of the top South Africa diversified mining and minerals companies.

African Rainbow Minerals deals with mining and beneficiating of iron ore, manganese ore, chrome ore, platinum group metals (PGMs), nickel and coal.

African Rainbow Minerals has 4 divisions, namely:

ARM Platinum: It has 3 operating mines which are located in Modikwa, Two Rivers and Nkomati.

ARM Ferrous: Owing 50% of Assmang (Pty) Ltd, whose operations are mainly iron ore and manganese ore.

ARM Coal: It first formed in partnership with Xstrata Coal South Africa and later merged to form Glencore.

Harmony Gold Mining Company Ltd: It operates and develops world-class gold assets in South Africa and Papua New Guinea (PNG).

ARM BURSARY PROGRAMME FIELDS COVERED

The African Rainbow Minerals Bursary (ARM Bursary) is giving out bursary to all eligible undergraduate students of the University of Cape Town and the University of Stellenbosch.

The bursary will be awarded to students studying in any of the following fields of study in the two universities.

University of Cape Town:

  • Accounting
  • Geology
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering

COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION

The African Rainbow Minerals Bursary will take care of the following student’s expenses that are related to their studies: tuition fees, registration fees, textbook, laptop, accommodation in university residence, meal and data subscription allowance.

The bursary management will contact all shortlisted candidates within 21days after the application closing day. If you did not receive any feedback after 21days consider your application unsuccessful.

Shortlisted candidates will have to attend a panel interview and take part in psychometric assessments after which the final selection will take place.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ARM BURSARY

To be eligible for the ARM Bursary applicants must meet up with the below requirements. It is compulsory to meet all the requirements before you can be considered for the bursary:

  • Applicant must be a South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying in one of the above fields of study at the University of Cape Town or the University of Stellenbosch
  • Completed your 1st or 2nd year of study
  • Students entering their 2nd or 3rd year of study in 2022
  • Applicants must have a strong academic record
  • You must NOT be currently receiving any other bursary funding

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE ARM BURSARY

There is no application form for the ARM Bursary be it an online application or hardcopy application. To apply for the African Rainbow Minerals Bursary, applicants must submit the following required documents to the address below. Submit a certified scanned copy of the following:

  • ID document
  • Matric certificate
  • University full academic record on your institution’s letterhead
  • University acceptance letter
  • Motivational letter to support your application in 1 page)
  • Curriculum Vitae not more than 1 page)

CLOSING DATE FOR THE ARM BURSARY
