Takealot is South Africa’s online store. Takealot is a business built on a simple principle: customers come first. The company’s objective is to become the most customer-centric online shopping destination in Africa and to make shopping convenient.

The company constantly strives to provide an opportunity for talents to join its graduate development program. Therefore, beneficiaries are required to undertake vacation work at Takealot during holidays and must work at the company once they have graduated. Takealot is granting bursaries to support South African citizens in their pursuit of degrees in the following fields of study:

  • Computer Science
  • Computer Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Information Systems
  • Electrical Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering

The bursary covers the entire tuition expenses, residence or private accommodation, subsistence, transportation expenses (a minimum of four home trip allowances at the cost of a bus ticket per year), and a personal computer (only applies to beneficiaries who don’t have one).

Takealot Bursary 2020 Requirements and Eligibility

The main criteria that will be used in selecting the applicants who will be granted a bursary are those with strong academic potential and motivation for a career at Takelot. In addition, applicants must satisfy the following qualifications prior to applying:

  • South African citizen
  • Completed matric
  • Must have an average of 65% or higher for the undergraduate degree and/or latest examinations
  • Studying within one of the aforementioned fields
  • Studying at a recognized public university in South Africa
  • Must be available to work for Takelot during holidays and upon graduation

Applicants will be required to sign up and create an account prior to logging in and applying.

Submit the completed application form along with the following documentation:

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Matric certificate (certified copy)
  • Full tertiary academic record (certified copy)
  • A motivational letter that indicates why you should be selected to receive a bursary

Closing Date

The closing date for the takealot bursary is 30 September. Any application submitted later will not be considered.
