The South African Society for Animal Science, SASAS was formerly known as the South African Society of Animal Production (SASAP). It functions as a place where animal scientists from different industries including animal scientists who conduct research and training, animal scientists interested in the various aspects of the animal sciences and the livestock industry.

ABOUT THE SASAS BURSARY PROGRAMME – FIELDS COVERED

The South African Society for Animal Science, SASAS Bursary is open to postgraduate students in South Africa to apply for the 2022 bursary.

Only postgraduates studying towards an Honours or Masters degree in Animal Science / Animal Production can apply.

SASAS BURSARY PROGRAMME COVERAGE VALUE

The value of the SASAS bursary will be determined by the council. Student fun is paid in 2 instalments to the recipient, with the condition that their SASAS membership is still valid.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR FOR THE SASAS BURSARY

To qualify for the SASAS Bursary, applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. Failure to meet the requirements will render your application not successful. Below are the requirements:

  • Open to all students
  • Must have completed a BSc (Agric.) qualification in either Animal Science or Animal Production
  • Graduate of a recognised and accredited university in South Africa
  • You must be a member of the South African Society for Animal Science (SASAS) (apply here to become a member)
  • Admitted to study towards an Honours or Masters degree in Animal Science / Animal Production
  • Registered to study a postgraduate course at a recognised and accredited university in South Africa
  • You must have an exceptional academic record (cum laude)
  • You must complete your Honours degree within 2 years and your Master’s degree within 4 years

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SASAS BURSARY

To apply for this bursary applicants will have to download and completely fill out the SASAS Bursary Application Form 2022 (pdf)

After filling out the application form with your correct information, you are to attach a certified copy of the following supporting documents for your application to be processed:

  • Graduation certificate for the completed degree
  • Official statement of subjects and symbols completed (undergraduate and postgraduate as applicable)
  • Recommendation by study leader

You are to submit both the application form and the supporting document to the mail: [email protected]

CLOSING DATE FOR THE SASAS BURSARY

The closing date for the SASAS Bursary is 31 March 2022. All applicants are expected to have submitted all the required documents and the application form on or before the closing date.
