The management of the South African Nursery Association Bursary is currently accepting students’ applications to get funded for their education. The aim of this organization is to represent the interests of the green/ nursery industry.
There are some associations that are related to SANA, they are ABSTA (Allied, Bulb & Seed Trade Association), GCA (Garden Centre Association), and the BPGA (Bedding Plant Growers Association).
Apart from the aim of the company to provide funding to students that are eligible, other aims of the SANA are portraying a professional image of the South Africa Horticultural industry; creating a national communication channel with other Nursery businesses; keeping in contact with Government departments on issues relating to the industry and environmental matters.
SANA BURSARY PROGRAMME FIELDS COVERAGE
The South African Nursery Association, SANA is currently accepting applications from students for the ongoing funding opportunities.
This bursary will be given to students that are studying Horticulture and Landscaping qualifications in their undergraduates. Postgraduates students (PhD, Masters and BTech students) will receive funding on a case by case basis.
COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION
The SANA bursary will provide for recipients tuition fees and it will be awarded for the current academic year. The bursary will be paid into the recipient institution’s account.
The bursary will only take care of student tuition fees; recipients will be responsible for registration fees, accommodation, outstanding fees and other fees.
SANA Bursary recipients will have to become SANA members free of charge and have access to the following benefits:
- Access to regular communication via electronic newsletters on topics relating to the industry, important dates and more
- Digital copy of the annual SANA Magazine
- Invitation as a visitor, to the fast-growing SANA TRADE FAIRS, allowing members the chance to view how the nursery industry operates – this takes place twice a year in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal
- Membership is valid for 1 year and student members are required to reapply each year
Bursary management might contact shortlisted candidates to attend an interview with a SANA representative in their area, which will take place in April 2022.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SANA BURSARY
To apply for the SANA Bursary, applicants must meet the following requirements. failure to meet the requirements will render your application unsuccessful:
- Must have completed Matric
- Studying in any of the eligible fields of study listed above.
- You must have completed all modules of the 1st academic year of study
- Applicants must have achieved a minimum overall average of 60% for each subject
- Member of SANA or must apply to be a member of SANA. The application is free.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SANA BURSARY
To apply for the SANA bUrsary, applicants will have to download and complete the South African Nursery Association Bursary Application Form 2022 (.pdf) completely.
After filling out the application form, you are to submit a certified clear copy of the below-supporting documents. It is compulsory for applicants to submit all the applicable supporting documents before their application can be processed.
- ID document
- A photograph of yourself (selfie/ portrait photograph/ student card photo)
- Full academic results record, including most recent results (on institutions letterhead)
- Tertiary institution’s banking details (on institutions letterhead)
- Proof of tertiary registration for 2022 (on institutions letterhead)
- A completed SANA Student Membership Application Form 2022 (.doc)
- Motivational letter with a minimum of 150 words
