Who Can Apply?
- KwaZulu-Natal residents in possession of a matric/grade 12 certificate and between the age 18-35 years.
- Students that have a provisional acceptance letter to the public higher institution will be studying in any of the fields above.
- Students studying in any of the areas above.
Documents Needed For Application
- The bursary application form (You can get the form from and also return it to Operation Sukuma Sakhe war rooms, Department of Education District Offices and Student Funding Office at Institutions of higher learning, Website of Provincial Departments, Provincial Government Facebook ).
- Applicants copies of an Identity document (ID) including your parents’ ID and /or your guardians’ ID.
- A certified copy of the Matric certificate or current statement of results for those studying already.
- Guardian/Parent proof of income (payslip, pension receipt or bank statement).
- Evidence of registration/ acceptance letter from a higher institution.
- If applicants both parents are unemployed the applicant will need unemployment from the Department of Labour
- Applicants that have a profiling certificate must submit a certified copy.
- Parent of guardian proof of income or a letter from the Department of Labor indicating that they are unemployed.
PLEASE NOTE
Applicants will be the ones to seek admission and accommodation with a tertiary institution of their choice. Successful applicants’ contract year will be equivalent to the period of their study. The application is given to applicants considering public institutions alone and it will cover tuition fees, stipends, meals, accommodation and textbooks.
Obligation: A bursar will serve the relevant Provincial Department for the same number of years that is specified in the Bursary Contract unless stated otherwise. All applications cannot be successful because of the limited fund available.
Only successful applicants will get a response from the program authority. If you did not receive any message 4 months after the closing date, it means you are not considered
