ASSET Bursary

Application is now open to South African students to apply for the Association Educational Transformation, ASSET Bursary. Check out the application requirements, eligibility and closing date.

The management of the Association for Educational Transformation, ASSET bursary is inviting all eligible students to apply for the new session bursary. ASSET is a non-profit organisation in Western Cape, the organization was established in January 2003.

The ASSET formerly performs all its operation under the wing of the South African Institute of Race Relations, SAIRR who has a history of helping disadvantaged students by providing for their educational needs.

ASSET receive funding from local, national and international donors to help students that have financial challenges to further their education. ASSET bursary has benefited many students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

ABOUT THE BURSARY PROGRAMME

The ASSET award bursaries to students pursuing higher certificate/ diploma/ degree qualification every year at a University in Western cape. The Universities in Western cape are:

  • University of Cape Town
  • University of the Western Cape
  • University of the Stellenbosch
  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Bursary value & Selection Process

The ASSET Bursary will take care of the students; tuition (a portion), registration and textbook fees. The recipient will be selected based on academic merit and financial needs.

The selection of successful applicants will be made in January by the Selection Committee meeting and successful applicants will be contacted.

If you have not received any message by the end of February, your application is unsuccessful.

ASSET BURSARY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To apply for the ASSET bursary, applicants must meet the following requirements. Failure to meet all the below eligibility requirements

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • A resident of Western Cape
  • Completed Matric OR currently in Matric
  • Intend on studying full time towards your first higher certificate/ diploma/ degree qualification
  • Intend on studying at a University or the University of Technology within the Western Cape (NOT a private institution or FET College)
  • Meet the admission requirements at a University or the University of Technology for your course of study
  • Preference will be given to students from disadvantaged communities and those in financial need

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

To apply, you will have to download the ASSET Bursary application form in either of the following formats:

After downloading the application form, fill it with your correct information and attach the required supporting documents applicable to you. It is compulsory to attach a certified copy of the supporting documents to be eligible for the bursary:

  • ID document
  • Grade 11 final results, if currently in Matric
  • Matric certificate, if available
  • Latest Matric/ tertiary results, if finals are not available
  • Proof of household income (payslips if employed/ sworn statement or affidavit/ pension advice if applicable)

CLOSING DATE

The closing date for the ASSET bursary is 30th September. All applications must be submitted on or before the closing date to be eligible for the bursary.
