The AFHCO bursary is open to all students of South Africa in all fields of study that want to apply for a bursary. The African Housing Company was established in 1996 and today it is one of the tops developers and investors in Johannesburg inner-city.
The AFHCO group was acquired in 2014 by the SA Corporate Retail (a JSE-listed Real Estate Investment Trust). This company is offering a bursary to help students from disadvantaged backgrounds to go to school.
AFHCO BURSARY COVERAGE VALUE
The AFHCO bursary is for all students from any field of study that its academic activities will last at least 12 months. The programme must also align with the SAQA (South African Qualification Authority) standards, at an accredited tertiary institution. Education must take place in a South Africa accredited institution.

AFHCO BURSARY PROGRAMME TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Below are the important term and conditions all applicants must take note:
- The bursary will be awarded to the value of R50 000 – paid directly to the educational institution.
- Winners will be selected at random by an externally audited system, during February 2022 – this will be overseen and verified by AFHCO’s internal and external Auditors, as well as an internal or external Attorney.
- Winners will be announced and notified via email, by no later than 15 February 2022.
- Winners must accept the prize within 4 days of email receipt notification – if they fail to claim it during this time frame, the prize will be forfeited.
- Winners will be announced on AFHCO online platforms by no later than 28 February 2022.
- Winners will be required to provide proof of identity – with a valid ID book or passport and proof of residence.
- Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash or any other prize.
- Winners must provide proof that they are an AFHCO tenant or dependent on an AFHCO tenant.
- When entering this competition, applicants are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the competition, which may be subject to change at any time.
- AFHCO’s decision regarding winner selection or any other issue will be final and binding – no correspondence will be entered into.
- Applicants consent to having their full name and photograph be published in the media for promotional purposes, should they win the competition.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for the bursary, applicants must meet the following requirements applicable to them to be considered for the award. Failure to meet all the requirements will render your application useless, here are the requirements:
- Applicant must be a South African citizen
- Currently in Matric or have completed Matric
- You must be studying or intend on studying towards a qualification in ANY field, that is at least 12 months long
- Studying or intending on study a qualification that aligned to SAQA (South African Qualification Authority) standards (students may check if their qualification meets standards here: https://regqs.saqa.org.za/)
- You must have read and agreed to all the terms and conditions above
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE AFHCO BURSARY
To apply for the AFHCO bursary, applicants will have to download and complete the AFHCO Bursary Application Form (.pdf) with correct information.
You can also pick up an application form at the AFHCO Head Office (1st Floor, Afhco Corner, 64 Siemert Road, New Doornfontein, Johannesburg, 2094).
Applicants are to submit clear certified copies of their supporting documents requested by the bursary. It is compulsory to attach the following supporting documents with your application that you will send to the AFHCO.
- ID document
- Grade 11 final report
- Matric latest report, if currently in Matric
- Matric certificate and results statement, for those that have completed Matric
- Applicant latest academic results, if currently studying at tertiary level on the institution’s letterhead
- Motivational letter explaining they should consider you for the bursary and how you would fund your studies if you do not receive a bursary
- Testimonial letter from a teacher, principal, lecturer or dean on institutes letterhead

CLOSING DATE FOR THE AFHCO BURSARY
The closing date for the bursary is 8 February 2022 (at 17:00). Any application submitted later will not be considered, all interested applicants are advised to apply before the closing date.
