Eligibility Requirements for the Cenfri Bursary

Before applying, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements (please be aware that your application will not be reviewed if you do not meet all the requirements):

  • You have to be a citizen of South Africa.
  • You must have a significant interest in research-related activities.
  • You must be attending your first or final year of a Masters-level program in Economics or a related discipline in 2024.

  • You need to be a skilled writer.
  • You need to be proficient at making presentations.
  • You need to be skilled at interacting with others.
  • You need to be proficient in quantitative reasoning.
  • You need to be an excellent analyst.
  • Advanced verbal and written English language proficiency is required.
  • You need to be a skilled user of Microsoft Office software.
  • You must be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Stata and the analysis of household survey data are advantages as well.
  • You have to have a strong interest in real-world development.
  • Students who live in Cape Town will be given preference (so they may fully benefit from the firm experience, mentorship, and workplace experience).

Alongside your online bursary application, send in clear copies of the following supporting documents (submission of these documents is required; if any are missing, your application may be discarded):
