About the Evander Gold Mining

The Evander gold field was established in 1951, and the first shafts of the Evander Gold Mines were sunk in 1956. A gold rush ensued shortly after in 1958, and Pan African Resources purchased the Evander Gold mines’ assets in February 2013, decades later. at that moment, the mine had about 1630 people total, including contractors for the business.

The main business operation of Pan African Resources PLC is the gold mining project at Barberton Mines, which is its primary source of gold. The main mines of the Barberton Mines, Fairview, Consort, and Sheba Mines, have a combined history of over a century in the mining industry.

Students residing in the Govan Mbeki Municipality (Mpumalanga) will be eligible to apply for bursary programs.  Students who are academically inclined will be granted bursaries to study in the following fields:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Metallurgical Engineering/ Extraction Metallurgy
  • Mechanical Engineering

Expenses Covered and Selection- Evander Gold Mining Bursary Program

The following expenses will be fully covered by the bursary: textbooks, accommodation, tuition, and a monthly stipend.

Eligibility Requirements for the Evander Gold Mining Bursary

  • Candidate must be studying or intend on studying at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
  • Candidates must exhibit a great capacity for academics.
