About the Evander Gold Mining
The Evander gold field was established in 1951, and the first shafts of the Evander Gold Mines were sunk in 1956. A gold rush ensued shortly after in 1958, and Pan African Resources purchased the Evander Gold mines’ assets in February 2013, decades later. at that moment, the mine had about 1630 people total, including contractors for the business.

Fields Covered by the Evander Gold Mining Bursary Programme
For the academic year 2024–2025, Evander Gold Mining offers an invitation to students to apply for their bursary program.
Students residing in the Govan Mbeki Municipality (Mpumalanga) will be eligible to apply for bursary programs. Students who are academically inclined will be granted bursaries to study in the following fields:
- Chemical Engineering
- Metallurgical Engineering/ Extraction Metallurgy
- Mechanical Engineering
Expenses Covered and Selection- Evander Gold Mining Bursary Program
The following expenses will be fully covered by the bursary: textbooks, accommodation, tuition, and a monthly stipend.

Eligibility Requirements for the Evander Gold Mining Bursary
The following minimum criteria must be fulfilled to apply (please be aware that your application will not be considered if any of the requirements are not adhered to):
- Candidate must be a South African citizen
- Candidate must reside within the Govan Mbeki Municipality, in Mpumalanga province
- Candidate must have completed Matric
- Candidates must pursue a degree in one of the aforementioned fields of study, or must already be enrolled in one.
- Candidate must be entering their first to final year of study in 2024
- Candidate must be studying or intend on studying at a recognized and accredited tertiary institution in South Africa
- Candidates must exhibit a great capacity for academics.
