SAMNET BURSARY

Application is now open for all eligible South Africans to apply for the South Africa Muslim Network, SAMNET Bursary 2022. You will see the details about the bursary and application process below.

The South African Muslim Network, SAMNET was established in 2009 with the aim to represent the South African Muslim community interest. SAMNET aims to contribute to social, economic, spiritual and educational excellence in the Islam framework.

It provides selfless service using the Ubuntu, Ukhuwah and Ujima principles. The Muslim Society started the SAMNET Bursary Fund after many requests from the community to provide financial assistance for students in Media Studies, Political Science, Journalism and other related courses.

SAMNET BURSARY FIELDS COVERED

The South Africa Muslim Network is inviting students in the field mentioned below to apply for its 2022 SAMNET Bursary.

Here is the eligible field of study:

  • Communications
  • Journalism
  • Media studies
  • Political Science

Students studying outside this field of study are not eligible for the bursary.

COVERAGE VALUE & SELECTION

The SAMNET Bursary fund will only take care of the student tuition fees, any other academic fees will be taken care of by the student or a loan or any other bursary.

Successful applicants will be contacted by the bursary board if you did not receive any message from SAMNET consider your application not successful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SAMNET BURSARY

To be eligible for the SAMNET Bursary applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements. It is compulsory for all applicants to meet the requirements applicable to them. Below are the requirements:

  • Applicants must have completed Matric
  • Studying or intending to study any of the eligible courses above
  • You must be studying or intend on studying at a recognised tertiary institute in South Africa
  • Students with financial needs and unable to pay their tuition fees.
  • You must be eligible for Zakat. Below is the Zakat:
    • The poor (al-fuqarâ’), meaning low-income or indigent.
    • The needy (al-masâkîn), meaning someone who is in difficulty.
    • Zakat administrators.
    • Those whose hearts are to be reconciled, meaning new Muslims and friends of the Muslim community.
    • Those in bondage (slaves and captives).
    • The debt-ridden.
    • In the cause of God.
    • The wayfarer, meaning those who are stranded or travelling with few resources.

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SAMNET BURSARY

Fill out the application form completely with your details and submit a certified clear copy of the following supporting documents

  • ID or Passport
  • Matric final results/ certificate
  • Full academic record with applicants most recent results/ transcripts on institutions letterhead (If currently in school)
  • Write a Motivation letter that includes the following
    • Why you should receive the bursary
    • What it would mean to you
    • How you can help the organisation
    • Your relevant work experience and leadership roles (signed by the applicant)
  • Parents or guardians proof of income
  • Parents or guardians proof of expenses for other dependents, if applicable
  • Reference letter from a non-immediate family member (optional)

It is compulsory for all applicants to submit all the eligible required requirements to be considered for this bursary.

CLOSING DATE FOR THE SAMNET BURSARY

The closing date for the bursary is 31 January 2022. Any application submitted after the closing date will not be considered for the bursary.
