Petra Diamonds offers in the following fields bursaries and vocational work experience (internships):
- Earth Sciences: Geology
- Engineering: Electrical, Mechanical, Mining, Metallurgy
- Other Directions: Environmental management, Financial management, Human Resources Management, Survey
NOTE – the Company is not recruiting for bursaries for the Academic Year 2021.
Opportunities will be advertised by the relevant Mine whenever they arise and application details will be available on the advertisement.
These opportunities annually from October normally take place.

Minimum requirements set out by Petra Diamonds Bursary must be met by applicants.

- Letter of acceptance into a recognized higher institution

REQUIREMENTS
The following selection criteria must be met by applicants applying for the Petra Diamonds bursary:
- The applicants must be a citizen of South Africa.
- Acceptance for the selected course of study at a University.
- Applicants must have an Admission Point (APS) of 35 for Engineering and an APS of 31 for other directions of study.
- Applicants must successfully complete panel interview assessment
- Applicants must have no criminal record and be fit medically to work in a mining environment, underground workplaces are included.
- Applicants who are currently studying at a recognised university or university of technology should demonstrate good results.
- If required, applicants should be prepared to relocate to rural areas where the mining operations are located.
- Applicants from local mining communities will have an advantage.
BURSARY VALUE
The Petra Diamonds bursary covers the following:
- Full tuition fees.
- Full residence and meals (or equivalent allowance).
- Annual cash and travel allowance.
- Compulsory practical vacation employment during December and January.
- Life skills training.
- The bursary is renewable annually.
CONDITIONS
The Petra Diamonds bursary carries a contractual obligation:
- The bursar is required to work for Petra Diamonds for a period equal to the study period of the bursary.
- Bursars who fail to graduate or do not take up employment for any reason are required to repay the costs incurred.
