Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund Bursary South Africa 2020 – 2021

The application for Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund bursary is now open for all interested applicants. This bursary is organized by the Legal Practitioners Fidelity.

The Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund (LPFF) is previously known as the Attorneys Fidelity Fund (AFF). The organization is responsible for the protection of the general public from loss of trust fund by theft. The LPFF’s goal is to reimburse clients who made use of an attorney and have a possibility of suffering a monetary loss due to theft (either of money or property) which has been entrusted to the attorney.

LEGAL PRACTITIONERS FIDELITY FUND COVERAGE VALUE

The Legal Practitioner’s Fidelity Fund is mainly for law students:

Undergraduate studies: the amount an undergraduate student will receive will be determined by the Fund’s Board of Control which is only applicable for tuition fees. The bursary is awarded for a maximum duration of 2 years.

Postgraduate studies: will receive a monetary maximum value of R8 000 per year, awarded for a duration of 2 years.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Below are the eligibility requirements for the scholarship. All applicants are expected to meet all the below requirements to be considered for the award.

Undergraduate studies:

  • Must be a South African citizen OR South African permanent resident
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Satisfy ONE of the following criteria:
    • Done with one of the following qualifications: B Comm (Law)/ BA (Law)/ B Proc/ B Iuris OR a similar qualification
    • Completed your first 2 years of the revised 4-year LLB curriculum
    • Students in their 2nd year of study (1st semester)
    • Students in their 3rd year of study (1st semester)
  • Must be studying at a recognised South African University
  • *Preference will be given to students in financial need

Postgraduate studies:

  • A practising attorney or candidate attorney
  • Must be studying at a recognised South African University

Applicants are to submit supporting documents with the application form. It is also necessary for applicants to read FidFund Bursary Rules before applying.

Attach a clear certified copy of the following documents with your application form:

Undergraduate application:

  • Passport-sized photograph attached to the top right-hand side of the application form
  • South Africa Identity document OR South African permanent residence
  • Latest academic record official transcript until the end of the 1st semester of 2019
  • Testimonial by the Dean of your Faculty of Law

Postgraduate application:

  • Passport-sized photograph attached to the top right-hand side of the application form
  • South Africa Identity document OR South African permanent residence
  • Latest academic record official transcript until the end of the 1st semester of 2019
  • Testimonial by the Dean of your Faculty of Law
