The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation was established in 1999. It came into existence as a result of the sales revenue generated from the sales of Dell Inc. shares. The company has since then allocated more than $1.3 billion to help children’s and communities suffering from abject poverty. In the early years of the foundation, the goal of the foundation is to improve poor children’s education and health in Central Texas. Few years after, the foundation expands her shore to national and global. As of today, MSDF operates in the United States, Central Texas, India and South Africa.
ABOUT DELL YOUNG BURSARY PROGRAM
The Dell Young Leaders Program was established by Micheal and Suzan Dell Foundation. It is a foundation that aims to address the education issue of South African children. The foundation has successfully helped about 100 poor South African children to study at the University of Cape Town and the University of Pretoria.
BURSARY WORTH AND BENEFITS
The Dell Young Bursary will grant R150,000 as well as a laptop and allowance for textbook with other basic educational needs for students. Also, work opportunities may be made available for bursary holders according to availability. The foundation will also encourage the bursary holder to participate in activities that will improve their academic performance and on-the-job skills. Support will also be given to students by offering qualified staff and program team to address student’s academic and psycho-social issue. This will make the student be successful in their academics.

- First-year students at the University of Pretoria and University of Cape Town
- South African citizens
- Proven financial needs

Financial aid students are nominated by the respective institutions for the bursary, and students are then invited to apply to the programme.
