Anglo American Platinum Bursary South Africa 2020 – 2021

The Anglo American Platinum Limited was established in 1995, it operates mainly in Johannesburg and most of its operations are done within Bushveld Igneous Complex which is home to a many mineral commodities. Anglo American Platinum is the biggest platinum producer with 40% of the platinum world supply each year.

The Anglo American Platinum Bursary is for all South Africans studying engineering, Rock Engineering, Chemistry, Geology and others. The company that that sponsor this scholarship produces three products; precious metals (e.g. Gold), base metals like copper; cobalt sulphate; sodium sulphate and nickel, and Platinum Group Metals like platinum, palladium, iridium and others.

Anglo American Platinum Limited Bursary Eligible Field of Study

The following are the eligible field of study that can apply for Anglo Platinum Limited Bursary:

  • Engineering
  • Chemistry (Applied or Analytical)
  • Geology
  • Metallurgy (Metallurgy/ Chemical Engineering)
  • Mining
  • Rock Engineering
  • Any field of study (for the Platinum scholarship alone)

Coverage Value

The bursary is going to cover the following students expenses: tuition fees, prescribed textbook allowance, meals, accommodation, registration fees, a laptop or laptop allowance and a monthly stipend. Students might also benefit from vacation work.

Students that benefit from this bursary must take up permanent employment at Anglo American after graduation. The service period the student will provide will be equal to the duration of bursary funding received.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Before any candidate can be considered for admission, he/she must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Pass the medical fitness examinations
  • Platinum Scholarship: Applicants currently in Matric or have completed Matric, ANY field of study, pass all subjects currently registered (if currently at tertiary level), be within a 50km radius from the company operations
  • Engineering students: must complete Matric in 2020 with a minimum result of 60% for English, Mathematics and Physical Science
  • Chemistry students: must complete the 3rd year of study in 2020 in an Applied or Analytical Chemistry degree, must pass all modules and be entering the 4th year of study in 2021
  • Geology students: must complete the 3rd year of study in 2020 in a Geology degree and must pass all modules
  • Metallurgy students: must complete the 3rd year of study in 2020 in a Metallurgy/ Chemical Engineering degree and must pass all modules
  • Mining students: must complete the 3rd year of study in 2020 in a Mining Engineering degree, must pass all modules and be entering the 4th year of study in 2021
  • Rock Engineering students: must complete the 3rd year of study in 2020 in a Mining Engineering or Geology degree and must pass all modules
