About AIMS-The Scholarship Provider
The African Institute for Mathematical Science (South Africa), or AIMS is located at Muizenberg, Western Cape. The organization was formed as a consortium of domestic and foreign universities, including the University of Cambridge, the University of Cape Town, the University of Oxford, the Université de Paris Sud XI, the University of Stellenbosch, and the University of the Western Cape.
An American-British artificial intelligence research lab established DeepMind Technologies Limited, (which is also known as Google DeepMind), in the United Kingdom in 2010. As a subsidiary of Google, DeepMind was later purchased by Google in 2014.
Fields Covered by the AIMS Scholarship Program
AIMS is inviting students to apply for their scholarship program for the academic year 2024-2025. The program invites students from all over Africa to apply to be one of the 40 Google DeepMind Scholars and join the company’s September 2024 cohort.
The master’s degree offered by the scholarship is a fully residential, one-year taught study with a research component. The program delves deeply into ways that artificial intelligence (AI) can advance scientific research and help us understand the world.
AI for Science is offered as a stream in AIMS South Africa’s Masters in Mathematical Science program. This collaboration with Google DeepMind made it feasible for students to participate in the fascinating fusion of science and artificial intelligence.
