Western Cape Government Health Bursaries 2020/2021

Application is now open for all health students to apply for the Western Cape Government Bursaries in Health for South African Students 2020/2021. The details of the bursary are below.

The Government of Western Cape is offering a limited number of health bursaries for full-time study each year. This bursary is to assist students that are financially disadvantaged.

The bursary aimed at attracting qualified students with the required competencies, knowledge and skills to join the health sector to meet its service delivery needs. The qualification identified to be eligible for the bursary for the 2021 academic year are below and how to apply for the bursary with the requirements.

WESTERN CAPE GOVERNMENT BURSARIES ELIGIBLE FIELD

Below is the field of study that is eligible to apply for this scholarship and the institution eligible:

BSC Radiography in Therapy or BSC Radiography in Ultrasound

  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Bachelor of Emergency Medical Care

  • Cape Peninsula University of Technology

Diploma in R 425 Nursing

  • Western Cape College of Nursing (Athlone, George or Worcester campus.)

B Nursing

  • University of Western Cape

Degree Medicine

  • University of Stellenbosch
  • University of Cape Town
  • University of Free State
  • University of Pretoria
  • WITS

Degree Pharmacy

  • North-West University (Potchefstroom campus)
  • University of Western Cape

These bursaries are awarded to students on a work back principal on a year for a yearly basis. Students Community Service Year will be part of the student’s 1st year of bursary obligation while internship years will not count. After completion of studies, students that are working will start paying their bursary obligation.

WESTERN CAPE GOVERNMENT BURSARIES IN HEALTH ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Below are the requirements for selecting students for the award:

  • Applicants must be a South African citizen residing in the Western Cape
  • Be offered admission at the relevant accredited Higher Education Institution (HEI), see above.
  • Bursars are expected to apply with the Department with proof of registration at an accredited academic institution at the start of the financial year. Recipients are also expected to submit their annual or supplementary examination results to the Department within 30 days of receiving the results.

  • Step 1: Apply at relevant accredited HEI for your required qualification.
  • Step 2: Open your browser and go to www.westerncape.gov.za/healthbursary to apply for the bursary
  • Step 3: Fill the online application form appropriately.
  • Step 4: Upload all necessary documents on the system.

CLOSING DATE

The application closing date is 30th of September 2020. Any application submitted later will not be considered.
