What you need to apply at the University of Johannesburg 

  • You will need a valid email address. One email is required and it is advisable to use the current one.
  • Be sure you meet the requirements for the course you are opting for. Ensure your documents are properly individually scanned and uploaded. 
  • Final high school certificate (grade 12), with international credentials.
  • Students in grade 12 may be asked to upload their grade 11 for verification. 
  •  You will need to submit the completely filled application form with needed documents and the application fee is R200. Note that online applications are free.

  • Identity documents or birth certificates and international passports for international students. 
  • You will need a sworn translation of your documents that are not issued in the English language. You would also need English proficiency in case it was not used as a medium of learning and teaching. It is recommended by the university to take IELTS and TOEFL and you must have a minimum score of 6 and 80-104 respectively. However, you can also write the University of Johannesburg English Language test with an average score of 6.
  • For applicants who have attended any other university in South Africa, you must get an academic transcript that covers the period of study.
