Tronox is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the academic year 2024/2025.

Bursaries for undergraduate studies in the following subjects will be given to students living in Empangeni and Richards Bay (KwaZulu-Natal):

  • Electrical Engineering (Process Instrumentation) (National Diploma) (1st year only)
  • Electrical Engineering (Process Instrumentation) (BSc/ BEng) (2nd year only)
  • Information Technology (National Diploma) (1st year only)
  • Mine Surveying (BSc/ BEng) (1st or 2nd year)
  • Mine Engineering (BSc/BEng) (1st or 2nd year)    The Tronox KZN Sands Operations at Empangeni and Mtunzini are the locations for these bursary opportunities.

Selection Process for the Tronox Bursary

A pre-screening assessment will be administered to applicants as a part of the selection procedure. Psychometric evaluations could potentially be used in the selection procedure.

Candidates who are chosen for further consideration must undergo a medical assessment.

Eligibility Requirements for the Tronox  Bursary

Candidates  must meet the following minimum entry requirements before applying (please be aware that your application will not be reviewed if you do not meet all the requirements):

  • Applicants have to be citizens of South Africa.
  • Applicants  must reside within Empangeni or Richards Bay, in KwaZulu-Natal province
  • Applicants must have completed Matric
  • Applicants have to be exceptional students.
  • Applicants have to be pursuing one of the aforementioned qualifications in 2024 or plan to pursue one in the future.
  • Applicants have to be starting their first or second year of college in 2024 (as mentioned above).
  • Applicants have to be enrolled in classes at a South African University or University of Technology.
  • Female students and students living with disabilities are encouraged to apply
