Standard Bank 150 Bursaries South Africa 2020 – 2021

Application is now open for South Africans to apply for the Standard Bank 150 bursaries 2020/2021. They are inviting all eligible students to apply for the bursary.

We can trace the history of Standard Bank to the establishment of the Bank of British South Africa Limited in the year 1862. The Standard Bank 150 bursary programme was founded in 2012 to honour the banks 150th anniversary.

The bank provides financial and banking services for its customers; the services include Consumer Banking; Investment Banking and Commercial Banking; Private Banking; Wealth Management; Investment Management; Insurance and Foreign Currency Exchange.

This bank can boost of over 55,000 staff members and offers their services in about 20 countries in Africa. Standard Bank Group is the biggest banking group by assets in Africa. The bank also owns a large stake in a South African listed insurance company, Liberty Holdings Limited. It was listed by JSE one of the countries 4 full-service banks.

COVERAGE VALUE, SERVICE CONTRACT & SELECTION

The bursary will cover the following student-related expenses: tuition fees, stationery, prescribed books, accommodation in residence or equivalent private accommodation and meals.

Recipient of this bursary will have to work for Standard Bank for the number of duration they collect the bursary.

The outcome of the bursary application will be sent to all applicants via email by 21st of December, 2020. Applicants that do not receive any information by 15th of January, 2020 should contact StudyTrust using the information provided below this article.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants of this bursary are required to meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for the bursary:

Undergraduate students:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • First-year students studying full-time programme in one of the aforementioned fields of study
  • Students studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • The bursary board will give students from the following universities preference: University of Johannesburg/ University of Pretoria/ University of the Witwatersrand/ University of Cape Town/ Stellenbosch University/ Rhodes University/ University of KwaZulu-Natal
  • Students with a strong academic record
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in the latest exams
  • Show proof of financial need

Postgraduate students:

  • South African citizen
  • Completed Matric
  • Studying or registering to study full time towards a postgraduate qualification within one of the above fields of study
  • Students studying at a recognised South African tertiary institution
  • The bursary board will give students from the following universities preference: University of Johannesburg/ University of Pretoria/ University of the Witwatersrand/ University of Cape Town/ Stellenbosch University/ Rhodes University/ University of KwaZulu-Natal
  • Students with a strong academic record
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 65% in the latest exams
  • Show proof of financial need

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE BURSARY

The online application is the most prefered mode of application. Click on the link to register and apply for the bursary.

2) Hardcopy Application: Download and complete the StudyTrust Bursary Application Form (.pdf). This mode of application is for Matric students and Gap year students that do not have access to the internet. Applicants using this method will need a valid email address.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

Applicants are to submit a clear certified copy of the following documents together with their application form:

  • ID document
  • Students currently in Matric are required to submit Matric latest results
  • students that have completed Matric are required to submit Matric certificate
  • Full tertiary academic record for students at the tertiary level
  • Proof of provisional admission to a tertiary institution
  • Curriculum Vitae
  • Applicants passport photograph
  • Testimonial from an Educational Official
  • Parents/ guardians/ household evidence of income (salary or wage slips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ affidavit stating annual income if self-employed/ 3 months most recent bank statements or latest audited financial statement if they own a business/ SASSA letter stating grants received if applicable/ death certificate if deceased/ letter from the court stating child support amount if parents are divorced or affidavit from the parent stating the child support amount received if parents are separated)
