SAPOA Bursary 2020 – 2021

In a bid to improve the skilled labour in the South African Commercial Property Industry, the South Africa Property Owners Association bursary is put in place. The bursary is aimed at brilliant students that are having problem financially with the hope for them to make the commercial property industry better.

The South African Property Owners Association, SAPOA was established in 1966. It came into existence with the aims to protect the interests of the industrial and commercial property industry in South Africa. It is a uniquely member-driven organisation, whose goal is to encourage private property ownership and development.

Below is all the information you need to apply for the scholarship successfully.

FIELDS COVERED & OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

The bursary is available for students in the field related to property, below are the field eligible for SAPOA bursary:

  • Finance (BCom) (majoring in Property Valuation and Management)
  • Property Valuation and Management (BCom)
  • Property Management (BSc)
  • Town and Regional Planning (BSc)
  • Urban and Regional Planning (BSc)
  • Construction Studies (BSc)
  • Quantity Surveying (BSc)
  • Property Studies (BSc)
  • Real Estate (BSc)

After the recipient of this bursary graduation, they may be given employment opportunity through the Graduate Development Programme, within SAPOA or in a member company. This depends on job availability.

SAPOA BURSARY ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following requirements to benefit from this bursary. All the requirements must be met by applicants:

  • Must be a South African citizen OR South African naturalized citizen
  • Must have completed Matric
  • Studying or intend on studying full-time in one of the field above.
  • Studying at a recognised University or the University of Technology in South Africa (institution registered with the Council for Higher Education),
  • Black students, as defined by the BBBEE Act (i.e. African/ Coloured/ Indian)
  • have a good academic record
  • Proven financial need

HOW TO APPLY FOR SAPOA BURSARY

To apply for the bursary you will first have to download and complete the SAPOA-Bursary-Application-Form (.pdf). After filling the form appropriately, you are going to submit a clear certified copy of the following supporting documents for you application to be processed:

  • Applicants ID document
  • Matric certificate
  • Proof of acceptance to study at a tertiary institution
  • Latest academic record/ transcript written on tertiary letterhead
  • Breakdown of costs for the applicants’ study programme for the year
  • Curriculum Vitae (of background and working experience)
  • Parents/ guardians ID documents
  • Personal statement (maximum of 2 pages)
  • Two written references
