How can I become a nurse?
To become a nurse in South Africa, you will have to study in an accredited nursing school. Below are the programmes available to become a nurse
- a four-year bachelor’s degree in nursing (BCur– Bachelor of Nursing Science, Education & Administration)
- a three-year diploma
- a one-year higher certificate in auxiliary nursing
- one-year postgraduate advanced diploma in nursing and midwifery on top of your degree or diploma.
After your nursing programme, you are required to do a one-year compulsory community service and writing exam to register with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
