IMM GRADUATE SCHOOL OF MARKETING ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Higher Certificate in Marketing & Export Management
Admission criteria for prospective students who matriculated prior to and including 2007:
Students that matriculated before 2007 and in 2007 are to meet the following admission requirements:
- Must have Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- For students over 23 years of age with no Senior Certificate, a CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application is required. It must include work-related experience and a SAPS affidavit indicating that the applicant did not obtain a Senior Certificate.
Admission criteria for prospective students who matriculated and exited the school system as of 2008:
All students that matriculated in 2008 and above must meet the following requirements:
- Must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC), National Certificate Vocational (NCV) or equivalent. The certificate must have an achievement rating of at least 3 (40-49%) in English home language or 4 (50-59%) in English first additional language.
- The student must have met the minimum requirements for admission into a higher certificate programme at a higher education institute.
- For students over 23 years of age with no Senior Certificate, a CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application is required. It must include work-related experience and a SAPS affidavit indicating that the applicant did not obtain an NSC.
No credit transfers for modules will apply for RPL. RPL will only apply for access to programmes
Diploma in Marketing Management
Admission criteria for prospective students who matriculated prior to and including 2007:
The IMM admission requirements for students that matriculated in and before 2007 are below.
- Must have Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- For students over 23 years of age with no Senior Certificate, a CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application is required. It must include work-related experience and a SAPS affidavit indicating that the applicant did not obtain a Senior Certificate.
Admission criteria for prospective students who matriculated and exited the school system as of 2008:
Students that matriculated in and after 2008 are to meet the following admission requirements:
- Must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC), National Certificate Vocational (NCV) or equivalent. The certificate must have an achievement rating of at least 3 (40-49%) in English home language or 4 (50-59%) in English first additional language.
- The student must have met the minimum requirements for admission into a higher certificate programme at a higher education institute.
- For students over 23 years of age with no Senior Certificate, a CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application is required. It must include work-related experience and a SAPS affidavit indicating that the applicant did not obtain an NSC.

Articulation from the Higher Certificate in Marketing to the Diploma in Marketing Management
- Graduates applying for a diploma must have completed all the modules on the Higher Certificate in Marketing offered by the IMM Graduate School.

BBA in Marketing Management
BCom Marketing and Management Science
Admission criteria for prospective students who matriculated prior to and including 2007:
Students that matriculated before and in 2007 are to meet the following IMM admission requirements:
- Must have a Grade 12 Senior Certificate with university exemption with a mark of at least 40% on higher grade or 50% on standard grade in Mathematics.
- An NQF level 5 certificate.
- For students over 23 years of age with no Senior Certificate, but have written and passed at least four higher grade or four standard grade subjects at matric level must have a CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application. It must include work-related experience and a SAPS affidavit indicating that the applicant did not obtain a Senior Certificate. Applicants are to include a certified copy of the subject passed.
- Applicants above 45 years can apply as a mature age applicant.
Admission criteria for prospective students who matriculated and exited the school system as of 2008:
- National Senior Certificate (NSC) or National Certificate Vocational (NCV) that have an achievement rating of at least 3 (40-49%) in English home language or 4 (50-59%) in English first additional language and an achievement rating of at least 3 (40-49%) in Mathematics or 5 (60-69%) in Mathematical Literacy.
- An NQF level 5 certificate.
- For students over 23 years of age with no Senior Certificate, but have written and passed at least four higher grade or four standard grade subjects at matric level must have a CV and RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) application. It must include work-related experience and a SAPS affidavit indicating that the applicant did not obtain an NSC. Applicants are to include a certified copy of the subject passed.
- Applicants above 45 years can apply as a mature age applicant.

Postgrad Diploma in Marketing Management
- An appropriate and recognized three-year qualification on NQF level 7.
- A minimum of three years of appropriate marketing or marketing-related experience. An access module, Marketing 1 may be required if the work experience is less than 3 years.
- A CV and a motivational letter are required.
Interested candidates are to complete the IMM Postgraduate Admission Application form for the Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management and attach a certified copy of educational certificates, identity or passport documents, a letter of motivation and a CV together with the application post to the address below:

- A suitable Bachelor’s Degree on NQF 7 with Marketing 3 as a major module.
- Any other equivalent qualification.
- A CV and a motivational letter are required.

MPhil in Marketing
A student applying must meet the following requirements:
- BCom Honours with Marketing and Research Methodology on the NQF Level 8 (HEQSF aligned); or
- BPhil Honours with Marketing and Research Methodology on the NQF Level 8 (HEQSF aligned); or
- BA Honours in Marketing Communications with Marketing and Marketing Communications as majors on the NQF Level 8 (HEQSF aligned).
- Any other equivalent qualifications.
- An overall average of 60% must have been achieved on the NQF level 8 qualification.
- A CV and motivational letter are required.
- In addition, students may be required to submit a provisional research proposal to the IMM Graduate School Research Committee.
- The Dean also has the right to prescribe any additional modules on honours level to ensure that the candidate complies with all requirements.

IMM Short Courses Requirements
No formal qualification is required to enrol for IMM online short courses, however, applicant’s proficiency in English Language and computer literacy is a neccessity.
