SANSA Postgraduate Bursaries

Application is now open for students to apply for the SANSA Postgraduate Bursaries 2022. Here are the bursary eligibility, requirements and closing date.

The management of the South Africa National Space Agency bursaries is calling on all eligible students to apply for the 2022 bursary online. The organization is doing its best to contribute to the development of science and engineering in South Africa.

SANSA believe that there have to increase in the number of graduate in science and engineering field for the development of the country. They believe the increase in the number of science and engineering graduates will resource the country with necessary and scarce skills to achieve the National Development Plan, ensure a successful and sustainable future for our citizens

SANSA Postgraduate bursaries ensure that adequate education is given to talented students in the science and engineering fields.

SANSA Postgraduate Bursaries Value

Aplicants of this bursary will be eligible to the following benefits by South Africa Space Agency:

  • Hons – R90 000 (one year).
  • Masters – R100 000 per year for two years.
  • PhD – R130 000 per year for three years.

Space Science (Hons, MSc, MPhil, PhD)
  • Solar physics and space weather forecasting
  • Antarctic radar studies of atmospheric gravity waves
  • Multi-instrument studies of space weather
  • Modelling geomagnetically induced currents in power systems
  • Multiscale ionospheric physics, structure and dynamics
  • Ionospheric and radio propagation modelling
  • Theory of waves and solutions in plasmas
  • Atmospheric radiation studies
  • Verification of space weather forecasting

Earth Observation (Hons, MSc, PhD)

Bursary Eligibility Criteria

Below are the eligibility criteria students must meet to qualify for the postgraduate bursary:

  • All applicants are expected to fill all the application form field with their full details.
  • Upload a certified copy of all the required documents.
  • Testimonial form must be completed by the supervisor and uploaded to the application form.
  • Evidence of financial need, academic potential and career-oriented study programmes.
  • Applicants must not be a beneficiary of a bursary that exceed the amount SANSA is ging. In case the recipient is receiving a lesser amount from another bursary, SANSA will top-up the amount.

Note: SANSA will only provide the bursary for the recipient that satisfy the bursary academic and other requirements the previous year.

Closing date

The closing date for SANSA Postgraduate Bursaries is on 30 September 2021. Any application submitted later is not eligible.
