Air Traffic and Navigation Services SOC Limited (ATNS) AIMO Bursaries

The bursary provides support to studies at the Bonaero Park ATNS Aviation Training Academy (ATA).   This particular program focuses on the Officer for Aeronautical Information Management (AIMO).

Aeronautical Information Management is the Air Traffic Control authority’s software program. The ATNS AIMO bursary seeks to develop skills in ATS flight planning, communications, NOTAM, static and dynamic data management, aeronautical flight procedural design and charting, and aeronautical surveying.

The bursary plan phase will include competency tests, interview, medical examination (by an Aviation Medical Specialist) and screening or verification. The bursary covers tuition, home-sharing, housing and food expenses as well as monthly allowances. The 10-day non-academic activities which the bursary coordinators may decide may also be offered. Bursaries must pass all academic subjects at or above 70 per cent otherwise the bursary will be cancelled.

Upon graduation of the bursary holder, one year of work for the company must be carried out in compliance with the bursary arrangement. Permanent jobs which will include full employment benefits may also be provided.

ATNS AIMO Bursary Requirements and Eligibility

The following are the minimum requirements to qualify for the bursary:

  • Candidate must be at least 18-years-old
  • Grade 12 with Maths and English (HG D or SG C or level 4 upwards)
  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Medically fit

Bursary Selection Process

Students are selected using the following criteria:

  • Candidates will write assessments test
  • Attend an interview
  • Medical Examination (conducted by an Aviation Medical Specialist)
  • Vetting

Only candidates that are successful in the following steps will qualify for the bursary.

Closing Date

  • 01 March to 30 April, 2020 (July program)
  • 01 December to 31 January, (April program)
  • 01 August to 30 September (January program)
