The management of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship is calling on all interested applicants to apply for the 2022 scholarship to study in Germany. It is open to applicants from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

About Friedrich Ebert Foundation Scholarship

The Friedrich Scholarships is aimed at outstanding students with excellent academic records. It includes a comprehensive seminar to help you enhance applicants social competencies and academic skills.

The scholarship board also make available to beneficiary on-site liaison lecturer. A total number of 40 scholarships are given out every year.

Scholarship Benefit

The scholarship recipients doing a Bachelors degree will receive a monthly income of EUR 830 while Diploma, Magister, state examination programs and master students will receive EUR 850. The board will also take care of recipients health insurance and a family allowance of EUR 276 for scholars with a child.

Eligible Candidates

The scholarship is aimed at students in Africa, Latin America, and Eastern Europe. Candidates that show excellent, aptitudes and good personalities academically or in their professional life..

Academic Requirements

  • Applicants must have been given admission to study at a state or state-recognized higher-education institution in Germany
  • Basic understanding of the German language, although the courses are taken in English. This means a ‘Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang’ of at least DSH level 2, a ‘Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache’ of at least level 4 or a ‘Zertifikat C 1’ by a Goethe Institute

The board gives out 40 scholarship awards on a yearly basis.

Award Duration

The scholarship is valid for a maximum funding period corresponds to BAföG regulations

  • 3 semesters before the end of the standard period of study, i.e.:
    • for bachelor’s degree programs
      (6 semesters: until the end of the 3rd semester; 7 semesters: until the end of the 4th semester)
