The management of the Mpumalanga Department of Health Bursary is calling on all Mpumalanga province students to apply for the ongoing bursary programme. The province makes up 7.3% of the South African population covering 78 000 km2 of land with 3 million people.

Mpumalanga Department of Health is located in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga. Its responsibility is to improve the health quality in the province through health care based on needs and delivery system with skilled health professionals.

MPUMALANGA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH BURSARY ELIGIBLE FIELD

The bursary is for students in the bursary that want to study Nursing and Midwifery Diploma at the Mpumalanga College of Nursing. Nursing diploma courses covered are Community, General and Psychiatry.

BURSARY VALUE

The Mpumalanga Department of Health Bursary will cover the cost of student tuition fees and a monthly stipend will be given to students throughout their course of studies.

There will be lectures for recipients t gain theoretical knowledge and Work Integrated Learning within health facilities. After graduation, students will have to sign an employment agreement with the Department of Health to “work back” for the number of years they receive the bursary.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants should make sure they satisfy the below requirement below applying for the bursary:

  • Must be a South African and a citizen of Mpumalanga province
  • Currently in Matric OR have completed Matric with a degree/ diploma admission
  • Achieved a minimum of level 3 (SG D or HG E) for Mathematics in Matric OR a minimum of level 4 for Mathematical Literacy
  • Achieved a minimum of level 3 (SG D or HG E) for Geography/ Physical Science/ Agriculture
  • Achieved a minimum of level 4 (SG C or HG D) for Biology/ Physiology/ Life Sciences in Matric
  • Achieved a minimum of level 4 (SG C or HG D) for English in Matric
  • Achieved a minimum overall Admission Point Score (APS) of 25 points for six highest subjects (excluding Life Orientation)
  • Studying or intend on studying towards a 4-year Nursing/ Midwifery Diploma at the Mpumalanga College of Nursing

HOW TO APPLY FOR MPUMALANGA BURSARY

You can apply for this bursary by downloading the hardcopy application form. The links for both the online and hardcopy are below.

You are to attach the following certified copy documents with your application form:

  • ID document
  • Current Matric students must present Matric mid-year results
  • Students who have completed Matric must submit their Matric certificate and latest statement of results where applicable
  • Proof of residence from the local municipality
  • *Current Matric students must submit their final results online or by hand by 15 January at the latest.
