Application is now open for students in South Africa to apply for the SANRAL High School Scholarship 2022/2023. The application process will be discussed below.

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL), established in 1998, is a state-owned company in South Africa tasked with administering and extending the nation’s growing network of national roads.

The South African government owns SANRAL, and the Minister of Transport is its representative. Integrity, Participativeness, Excellence, Care, and Pro-activeness are the company’s fundamental values, and its mission is to be a global leader in the provision of a superior national road network.

ABOUT THE SANRAL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME

High school students are encouraged to apply for the High School Scholarship for the 2023 academic year through SANRAL. Any student entering grades 8 through 12 is eligible for the scholarship, regardless of their academic interests.

Scholarship candidates will be chosen on the basis of academic achievement, financial need (in accordance with SANRAL’s Bursary Policy), and other circumstances that may be relevant.

EXPENSES COVERED, OTHER BENEFITS & SELECTION

The scholarship will pay for the following costs: application fees, tuition, boarding fees, books, office supplies, sports uniforms, transportation, and additional lessons.

After obtaining the school fee statements, the tuition will be paid directly to the institution. Other fees will be repaid to the parent or guardian following receipt of the claim form and the original evidence of payment.

Recipients will also receive the following benefits:

  • Learner Support to help prepare for studying and academic success.
  • Holistic support, including career information and guidance in a desired career path.
  • Psychological counselling, career coaching, extra classes and exam preparation are dependent on a needs assessment.

After the final selection procedure is over, the selected candidates will be contacted. By the end of January 2023, if you have not heard anything, please consider your application unsuccessful.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SANRAL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

There are some requirements students must meet to be eligible for the SANRAL High School Scholarship. All requirements must be met by the applicants. Below are the requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Applicants entering Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10, Grade 11 or Grade 12 in 2023
  • Have registered to study at an endorsed South African high school
  • Achieved a minimum overall average of 60%
  • Applicants with a strong academic record
  • Applicants with a household income of less than R550 000 per annum

HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SANRAL HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

To apply for the SANRAL Scholarship, applicants must download and complete the SANRAL High School Scholarship Application Form (.pdf)

After completing the SANRAL application form, you are to submit a clear certified copy of the supporting documents to be eligible for the bursary. Below are the certified documents required:

  • ID document or birth certificate
  • June 2022 academic results
  • A motivational letter written by the applicant stating why they deserve the scholarship and about yourself: 2 pages
  • A motivational letter was written by the applicant’s school principal to support your application
  • The motivational letter was written by the applicant’s parents or guardians to support your application
  • Parents’ or guardians’ ID documents
  • Parents or guardians proof of income recent payslips if employed, affidavit if unemployed or self-employed
  • Parents or guardians’ proof of residence; water and electricity bill from the local council
