Under the direct supervision of the External Relations Officer, the incumbent is responsible for supporting all partnerships related activities including:

Support WHO Partners Collaboration and Coordination:

Support WHO regular partners coordination and collaboration and that during the current Ebola response and that of any other emergency response during the contract period.

  • Support the development, update, and implementation of the Partnership component of the External Relations, Communications and Partnerships Strategy for the Country Office based on a thorough analysis of the partnership environment and a detailed mapping of WHO partners at the country, including with the private sector.
  • Work closely with the External Relations Officer, and other technical teams at the Country Office to identify, secure and improve major partnerships opportunities. Partnership opportunities for WHO Uganda include partnerships with health development partners, implementing partners including INGOs and NGOs, UN family, private sector partners, in addition to any other partnerships the country office might foresee.
  • Conduct WHO partners mapping, ensuring partners data collection, compilation, analysis, and dissemination including 4Ws and any other compilation of partners intelligence and partner information analysis to better support management of WHO partners. These mappings include the Health Development Partners Group mapping, Health Sector Partners Mapping, Donor Mapping, Emergency Response Partners Mapping including the Ebola Response Partners Mapping or any other emergency partners mapping.
  • Create and keep up-to-date contacts list of WHO Uganda partners.
  • Conduct regular partner-related events, meetings, engagements, and partners collaboration initiatives to ensure regular communications and information sharing, coordination, and collaboration.
  • Contribute to the development of talking points, speeches, and briefings for Senior Management in preparation for meetings and interactions with partners.
  • Facilitate partners capacity building initiative to ensure that WHO implementing partners are well briefed and trained on WHO ways of working.
  • Compile necessary information and documents from Non-State-Actors (NSA), review and make ready for submission for WHO Due Diligence Assessments.
  • Liaise with WHO Regional Office for Africa (AFRO) to explore, coordinate, and secure clearances for partnerships opportunities.

Qualification:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience at the national and/or international level in one or more relevant fields: partnerships, resource mobilization, programme management and coordination.
  • Candidates with 7 or more years of professional experience in the above-mentioned areas are desirable.
  • Experience with WHO or other UN organizations or INGOs especially around the areas of report writing is required.
  • Knowledge of the global humanitarian and development assistance architecture.
  • Strong oral and writing skills in English.
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Proven experience in producing high-quality publications and other types of written outputs including policy reports, academic papers, and briefings.
  • Experience in mapping exercises, 4/5Ws tools, producing reports and maps.
  • Ability to deliver quality outputs under tight deadlines and minimum supervision while managing a multitude of stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with others in a multi-cultural environment.
