The African Scholar Fund is awarding bursaries to students in South Africa after seeing the need for quality education during the apartheid years. They finance students from poor backgrounds financially to help them through their secondary school and TVET college education fees.

The fund intends to provide financial assistance for the cost of students’ tuition, uniforms, and transportation. The ASF does more than just give money to its beneficiaries; they also mentor, inspire and care for them throughout their whole academic career. They keep constant communication with bursars and are only concerned with the wellbeing of the students, monitoring and commenting on their academic progress.
